Legacy media outlet Stuff has applied to the High Court in an effort to prevent the further circulation of data taken from its Neighbourly website in a significant cyber breach.
Court officials in Auckland have confirmed to state media an application for an injunction has been filed and accepted, as the company moves to limit the spread of information believed to have been stolen during the attack. Neighbourly temporarily took its website offline on New Year’s Day after discovering the breach.
Data allegedly being offered for sale on the dark web is understood to include user names, email addresses, posts, and private messages. Cyber security specialists have warned the situation is especially serious due to the reported exposure of GPS location data, which they say could place individuals at personal risk.
No hearing date has yet been scheduled.
The legal action comes amid a broader wave of cyber incidents, including a recent attack on ManageMyHealth, where hackers claiming responsibility have threatened to release hundreds of thousands of files unless a ransom is paid within a 48-hour deadline.

Cancerous site anyway
Anything affiliated with the cretins at Stuff – remember the vilification of the anti-vaxers people!- is filth. Hope it bankrupts the losers.
Yeah that’ll stop the hackers releasing the data. An injunction.
Good one Stuff
Memo to government. Maybe not such a good idea to digitise everything if it is so easily hacked. Especially peoples’ money.
What a waste of time and precious $$ for stuff’s own incompetent media model.. Are there still any idiots out there who subscribe to stuff/neighbourley/otherbullshit ?
Yeah not me they’re a joke 🤣
