The 42 year old woman is charged with the murders of two children, whose bodies were discovered in a suitcase in Manurewa.
The allegation was made on a South Korean TV show called ‘I Want to Know’, which aired last week.
Details of the woman’s identity, and those of the children, have been supressed to protect the identity of the suspect’s mother, who stlll resides in New Zealand.
The TV show claimed that in December last year the murder suspect went to a police station in Seoul claiming a male stalker had attacked and raped her. However, police were suspicious of her story, believing her injuries to be self-inflicted.
Police obtained an order to detain the woman in a psychiatric facility.
University friends of the woman in South Korea told the show she was an normal, active student.
The woman is currently in a Seoul prison awaiting finalisation of her extradition to New Zealand.
