Sunnyvale firearms incident – police investigating

Police are investigating a firearms incident in Wattle Road, Sunnyvale.

Police were alerted to the incident at around 1:20pm today.

On arrival, a male was located with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.

He has been taken to hospital where he is reported to be in a serious condition.

The local community will notice an increased Police presence while staff make enquiries in the area.

Cordons are in place at View Road and Wattle Road, and at Wattle Road and Awaroa Road.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

There have been no arrests at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 105 and quote event number P051797888.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Update at 3.38pm

Police are continuing to make enquiries following a firearms incident in Sunnyvale earlier this afternoon.

Cordons that were in place have now been stood down.

Police would like to thank the public for their cooperation while the cordons were in place.

A scene guard remains in place at a Wattle Road address.
