Watch: Trudeau headache as massive truck convoy protests against mandates in Canada

Canadian truckies are protesting this week against the Trudeau government’s COVID policies and mandates with a huge convoy named ‘The Freedom Convoy 2022’.

A series of convoys have begun across the country, in British Columbia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Quebec. The various convoys plan to meet up on 27 and 28 January, to begin a final joint push to the nation’s capital Ottawa.

Along the way the various convoys aim to clog up the Canada-US border at various points.

An estimated 500,000 people and 50,000 trucks are predicted to descend on Ottawa, causing a major headache for Prime Minister Trudeau.

Slow-rolling protests are scheduled to join the Freedom Convoy 2022 over the coming days in cities across the country, eventually converging on the nation’s capital from all directions.

Ostensibly inspired by new pandemic restrictions on unvaccinated cross-border truckers, commentary online and in the media makes it clear that the protest is quickly ballooning based on frustration against pandemic health measures more generally, and Trudeau’s dictatorial style of leadership.
