Two bodies recovered after landslide destroys Papamoa home

Police have confirmed two people have been found dead after a house on Welcome Bay Road in Papamoa was extensively damaged by a landslide earlier today.

Emergency services recovered the two occupants from the property this evening, but both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said they are providing support to the victims’ families and loved ones as they come to terms with the tragedy.

The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
