Kiwi ingenuity has derailed an aquatic attempt by Trevor Mallard to remove the Convoy 2022 NZ protest from parliament’s grounds.
Eariler in the day Mallard had ordered the sprinkler system turned on, and to remain on over the weekend, in an effort to soak protesters, despite Wellington having water restrictions in place.

The intention was use the sprinklers to force the protesters off the grassed area in front of parliament.

However protesters covered the sprinkler heads with road cones and dug channels to drain the water harmlessly away.

Earlier reports from the ground said the number of protesters had tripled since yesterday.
The day was also notable for the support of the protest from former National MP Matt King and Leighton Baker, [former] leader of the New Conservative Party. They joined Winston Peters and Rodney Hide who also backed the protesters yesterday.

This is historic record – the day Mallard actually did something. He’s come a long way from beating up a taxi driver. He had his time as a protestor on the very same lawn but how things have changed now he’s departed the proletariat.
