A young woman has been arrested following an unprovoked assault on two members of the public at the Hibiscus Coast Bus Station north of Auckland on Tuesday evening.

Police say they were called to the scene after reports of a random attack, and later located the suspect on Hibiscus Coast Highway, where she had run into oncoming traffic.

The woman was taken into custody and charged with assault, and was scheduled to appear in the North Shore Youth Court.

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 105, quoting file number 260106/5001.
