Allen and Seifert power NZ to record-breaking T20 World Cup win

New Zealand secured a dominant 10-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in Chennai after openers Finn Allen and Tim Seifert produced a record-breaking unbroken 175-run partnership, the highest for any wicket in T20 World Cup history.

Chasing 174, the pair accelerated early, scoring 78 runs in the power play and reaching their century stand in just 8.3 overs before sealing the win with nearly five overs remaining. Seifert finished unbeaten on 89 while Allen remained not out on 84, surpassing the previous World Cup partnership record of 170 set by England in 2022.

Earlier, UAE posted 173-6, led by captain Muhammad Waseem’s unbeaten 66 and a 107-run second-wicket stand with Alishan Sharafu. New Zealand had opened their tournament with a win over Afghanistan and will next face South Africa before their final group match against Canada.
