New Zealand Rugby and Rugby Australia have confirmed a new Anzac Day tradition, with Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium set to host Bledisloe Cup Tests in 2027, 2029 and 2031 under a Queensland Government-backed agreement.
While none of the marquee fixtures will be played in New Zealand, each will open a three-Test Bledisloe series before the remaining matches are staged during the Rugby Championship, with one Test hosted by each country.
The arrangement will pause in 2028 and 2030 due to Nations Championship commitments. NZ Rugby chief executive Steve Lancaster said the partnership would help strengthen rugby on both sides of the Tasman and boost Super Rugby Pacific, while Rugby Australia’s Phil Waugh said the Anzac Day clashes would create a new trans-Tasman sporting tradition celebrating the long-standing rivalry between the two nations.
