The Canterbury Bulldogs have made a bold statement by signing star prop Leo Thompson on a four-year deal starting in 2026, signalling their premiership ambitions under coach Cameron Ciraldo.
Despite a lucrative $3.5 million offer and strong personal ties to Canberra, Thompson rejected the Raiders and instead chose the Bulldogs, reportedly influenced by their rising status as future NRL contenders.
Newcastle Knights, his current club, also failed to retain him despite attempts to improve their offer, with Thompson citing concerns over his development and the club’s roster management.
The deal highlights the Bulldogs’ determination to build a championship-caliber team.
