Manchester United have appointed former midfielder Michael Carrick as caretaker head coach until the end of the season following the sacking of Ruben Amorim earlier this month.
Carrick, who previously had a brief interim spell in 2021, will take charge of Saturday’s derby against Manchester City and is expected to shift the team to a 4-2-3-1 system.
He will be supported by Steve Holland as assistant, alongside Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion.
The club opted for Carrick after he impressed senior executives with his coaching vision, while Darren Fletcher, who oversaw two matches after Amorim’s departure, will return to his role with the under-18s as part of United’s longer-term development plans.
