Chelsea have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior after just 106 days in charge following a sharp downturn in results.
Despite arriving on a long-term deal from RC Strasbourg Alsace, Rosenior oversaw only 11 wins in 23 matches, with a damaging five-game scoreless losing streak culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The club described the decision as difficult but necessary, citing performances falling below expectations as Chelsea slipped to seventh in the Premier League.
Assistant coach Calum McFarlane has been appointed interim manager, while potential replacements under consideration include Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Edin Terzic.
