England dominate day three of Christchurch test

England’s commanding performance on the third day of the Test has put them in a commanding position, leaving New Zealand with a daunting uphill battle.

The day began with England racing through the morning session, piling on runs to secure a substantial first-innings lead of 151. Harry Brook’s dazzling 171, combined with Ben Stokes’ aggressive 80, set the tone, while rapid lower-order contributions from Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse added crucial runs. The explosive batting display shifted the momentum firmly in England’s favour.

England’s bowlers carried that momentum into the New Zealand innings. Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse were instrumental, sharing six wickets between them.

Woakes’ double strike, dismissing Kane Williamson and Tom Blundell in consecutive deliveries, proved to be a game-changing moment. Carse followed up with a crucial lbw dismissal of Glenn Phillips, further tightening England’s grip on the match. With New Zealand struggling to find answers, the visitors face a monumental task to claw their way back on day four.
