Gritty Highlanders stun Blues

Despite being reduced to 13 men and losing their props, the Highlanders pulled off a stunning 29-21 upset win over the Blues in Dunedin.

Fullback Finn Hurley starred with two tries, including a sensational 80-meter solo effort, as the underdogs overturned an early 14-3 deficit.

The Blues looked in control after tries from Finlay Christie and Beauden Barrett, but the Highlanders’ resilience and crucial defensive plays, including two late lineout steals by Fabian Holland, sealed the victory.

The crucial derby win boosts the Highlanders’ season momentum as they prepare to face Moana Pasifika next week, while the Blues will aim for a turnaround against the Hurricanes.
