Scottish football icon Sir Kenny Dalglish has revealed he is receiving treatment for cancer after unintentionally making the diagnosis public through a social media post.
The 75-year-old said his treatment was progressing well and thanked medical staff for their care, while asking for privacy for himself and his family.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest figures in Scottish and British football, Dalglish scored a record-equalling 30 goals for Scotland, starred for Celtic F.C. and enjoyed legendary success with Liverpool F.C. as both a player and manager, winning multiple league titles and European Cups.
Tributes quickly poured in from across the football world, including former teammate Ian Rush, who praised Dalglish’s resilience. The announcement came just a day after former Liverpool star Kevin Keegan disclosed he has stage four cancer.
