Manchester City moved within touching distance of Premier League leaders Arsenal after securing a hard-fought win in a tense clash at the Etihad Stadium.
The match swung back and forth, with City taking the lead through Rayan Cherki before Arsenal quickly levelled after a costly error from goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed Kai Havertz to capitalise.
Both sides struck the woodwork and created clear chances in an open second half, but it was Erling Haaland who made the difference, finishing from close range to restore City’s advantage.
Arsenal pushed late, hitting the post and missing key opportunities, but Pep Guardiola’s side held firm to claim victory, closing the gap to three points with a game in hand.
