Eddy Pineiro kicked a 41-yard overtime field goal to give the San Francisco 49ers a 26-23 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, capping a dramatic clash that saw the Rams force overtime with a last-second field goal.
Despite missing key players including quarterback Brock Purdy, replacement Mac Jones threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns, while the 49ers’ defence stopped the Rams on a crucial fourth down.
The win, hailed by coach Kyle Shanahan as a “huge character” effort, lifts the 49ers to 4-1 and keeps them atop the NFC West.
