The New Zealand Breakers squandered a 12-point halftime lead to fall 87–81 to the South East Melbourne Phoenix at Spark Arena, missing a chance for consecutive NBL wins.
After dominating early behind Sam Mennenga’s 29 points and 11 rebounds, the Breakers’ offence and defence faltered in the second half, committing 21 turnovers as the Phoenix rallied.
Owen Foxwell’s decisive three-pointer and Malique Lewis’ late jumper sealed the visitors’ comeback, leaving the Breakers to regroup ahead of their clash with the Tasmania JackJumpers on Friday.
