Welsh rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit has ended his American football journey after 18 months without playing in an NFL regular season game.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Kansas City Chiefs through the NFL’s International Player Pathway before moving to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad, announced via Instagram that he’s returning to rugby union.
Rees-Zammit described his NFL experience as valuable but said it’s time to “come home” and focus on doing what he does best.
A former Gloucester winger and British & Irish Lions selection, he earned 32 caps for Wales before pursuing NFL. He’s expected to rejoin rugby next season, though recovery from a reported back injury may influence his return timeline.
