An EasyJet flight from Dalaman in Turkey to Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing in Frankfurt on May 24 after a female passenger allegedly screamed about a bomb and attempted to open the emergency exit mid-flight.

Witnesses said it took three men to restrain the woman, who was travelling alone and had been running up and down the aisle claiming the plane was “going down.”

The pilot diverted the flight after the woman’s erratic behaviour alarmed crew and passengers, with emergency services boarding upon landing.

Due to a local airport curfew, the flight was grounded overnight, finally arriving in Manchester the next afternoon.

EasyJet confirmed the diversion and delay, citing the disruptive passenger and praising crew for their swift response.

German authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
