Bill Gates calls for shift from climate spending to combating disease and hunger

Bill Gates news

Globalist Bill Gates has urged global “philanthropists” to redirect much of their funding away from the pursuit of net-zero emissions and toward tackling hunger and disease.

In a new essay published Wednesday (NZT) in Gates Notes, the Microsoft co-founder said climate change is not the existential threat many activists claim it to be. Gates argued that the world has already made major strides in cutting carbon emissions but warned that continuing to pour vast sums into high-cost, low-yield projects is an inefficient use of limited resources. Instead, he called for greater urgency in confronting the crises of malnutrition and preventable illness, which he said cause more immediate and measurable suffering.

Gates pointed to the Trump administration’s termination of USAID—once responsible for billions in global food and medical aid—as a critical moment demanding renewed global attention.

“Although climate change will have serious consequences, it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” he wrote, adding that the world must refocus on “improving lives” rather than fixating on emissions.

His essay, arriving just ahead of the COP30 climate summit, has ignited fierce debate among scientists and activists.
