Hurricanes run riot in Sydney

The Hurricanes produced a ruthless attacking display to crush New South Wales Waratahs 19-59 in Sydney, extending the Australian side’s long losing streak against the Wellington-based visitors to nine straight matches.

The Waratahs were dealt an early setback when Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii withdrew with a hamstring injury during the warm-up, forcing debutant George Poolman into the side. Although Max Jorgensen continued his prolific start to the season with two tries, the Hurricanes overwhelmed the hosts with nine tries, led by a second-half hat-trick from Billy Proctor and a double from Bailyn Sullivan.

Earlier scores from Asafo Aumua and Peter Lakai helped establish control before two sin bins compounded the Waratahs’ collapse in difficult conditions at Allianz Stadium.
