The captain of the luxury yacht Bayesian which sank off Sicily on August 19, has exercised his right to remain silent during questioning by Italian prosecutors.

51-year-old New Zealander James Cutfield was placed under investigation on Monday following the incident that resulted in the deaths of British tech magnate Mike Lynch and six others.

Cutfield’s lawyer cited the captain’s exhaustion and the need for more time to prepare a thorough defense. The investigation, which may take time, involves salvaging the wreck from the sea and monitoring environmental conditions, though no oil leaks have been reported.

  1. I don’t know the whole story but the surface says it was an opportunity to kill Mike Lynch.
Cutfield would be better to expose those behind this operation. Staying quiet will not protect your life as it has already been planned to silent you for good.

  2. I am not sure what those divers were specialists in but it wasn’t wreck, cave or deep diving.

Right from the get go there seemed to be a reluctance to use specialists in these skills – who knows maybe there would have been a survivor or two. people have survived several days in wrecks at depth contrast this laughable effort with the sunk Nigerian oil support ship from which specialist (no, real specialist) commercial divers rescued a lone survivor, the cook who had been trapped in the pantry for several days at 50 Metres. 50 Metres, now where have I heard that before?
