One Nation claims historic Lower House breakthrough

One Nation has secured its first-ever seat in Australia’s federal lower house, with candidate David Farley winning the New South Wales electorate of Farrer by a commanding margin after the resignation of former Liberal leader Sussan Ley.

The result is being viewed as a major shift in the Australian political landscape, highlighting growing frustration among voters with the major parties following the coalition’s heavy federal election defeat last year.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson hailed the victory as a significant milestone for the party, while Farley said the result showed Australians were seeking an alternative to traditional political structures.

The electorate, which covers a huge regional area including Albury, Griffith and Deniliquin, had previously only been held by the Liberal or National parties. The by-election also intensified pressure on the opposition coalition’s new leadership team, with both the Liberals and Nationals continuing to face internal divisions and declining support.

  1. The Establishment must be getting worried. What are they going to do to retain their grip on power? Another “pandemic”? Economic collapse? Social unrest? Race riots? Or maybe a World War might be needed?
