‘Operation Dirtbag’: 150 immigrant sex predators caught in Florida

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has arrested around 150 immigrants convicted of sex crimes in a sweeping Florida operation dubbed ‘Operation Dirtbag’, part of President Donald Trump’s expanded crackdown on illegal immigration.

DHS officials said the 10-day series of raids resulted in more than 230 arrests of “criminal illegal aliens,” including offenders from Cuba, Venezuela and Ukraine, with charges ranging from sexual assault and battery to attempted homicide.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the arrests would “make our kids safer,” calling Florida’s partnership with Governor Ron DeSantis a national model.

Governor DeSantis claimed those taken into custody had been allowed to “roam” under the Biden administration, but said “times have changed” under Trump. Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has pushed for what he promises will be the largest deportation effort in US history. His administration has deployed heavily armed federal agents for high-profile raids that have sparked protests and accusations from Democrats of human rights abuses and indiscriminate targeting of non-violent immigrants.
