Georgia Senator Colton Moore was arrested at the State Capitol on Thursday following a confrontation with the House doorkeeper, just before Governor Brian Kemp’s State of the State address.
Moore was previously banned from the House floor for controversial remarks, including calling late House Speaker David Ralston “corrupt”.
His ongoing conflicts, including a push for a special session over the indictment of Donald Trump, have heightened tensions within the Republican Party, leading to further scrutiny of his conduct.
Video of the incident circulating on social media shows Moore hitting the floor after being dealt a blow in front of a crowd gathered near the House Chamber’s entrance.
