Starmer backs Denmark over Greenland

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed push for American control of Greenland, backing Denmark and stressing that the island’s future must remain in Danish and Greenlandic hands.

Starmer spoke out after Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged Trump to stop what she described as “threats” toward a fellow NATO ally. He said Denmark was both a close European partner and a key member of NATO, adding that decisions about Greenland could only be made by Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.

“The future therefore has to be for Greenland, for the Kingdom of Denmark, and only for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark,” Starmer said in an interview with Sky News UK, adding that he stood fully behind Frederiksen’s position.

The UK government has also reinforced that stance in parliament, with the foreign secretary saying Britain would continue to work closely with Denmark on security matters and that Greenland’s status was not open to ‘outside interference’.

Trump has argued that the United States needs Greenland because of its strategic position in the Arctic, citing competition with Russian and Chinese naval forces.

  1. I can’t understand why Trump has to make threats over Greenland. Surely Denmark would be open to a close ally, especially a NATO partner securing Greenland together as a team against so-called threat of Russian and Chinese warships. There’s no need to annex Greenland if that was the issue. Unless Trump also wants to loot it’s mineral wealth

    • Na mate, it’s about disturbing the old world.
Disrupt, divide and conquer is thejr MO.
Thej are operating against established societies since Kazarian times.

    • Securing control over Greenland is a mechanism for securing control over EU and NATO countries. Their acquiescence will indicate their subjugation.

  2. Starmer’s own newspaper/mouthpiece, the Guardian, published long articles re: Denmark’s uplift policy of newborns from Greenland’s indigenous women. Considering the state in which the US Democrats’ govt. left Afghanistan, among other things, allowing the deplorable treatment of women, and considering the slide towards sharia law elsewhere, again, depriving women of basic human rights, Starmer’s alliance with the ‘king of Denmark’ seems a little, erm, weird.
