U.S. President Donald Trump has defended an ICE agent who fatally shot a woman during a confrontation in Minneapolis, saying the officer acted in self-defense and placing blame on what he described as “radical left” agitation against law enforcement.
The incident occurred on Wednesday local time when federal immigration agents approached an SUV driven by Renee Good.
Video of the encounter shows an agent attempting to open the vehicle’s door before firing multiple shots as the car moved away.
The Department of Homeland Security has claimed Good tried to ram officers with her vehicle, a version of events Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey rejected outright.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said he had reviewed footage of the incident and described it as disturbing, asserting that the driver resisted officers and struck an ICE agent, prompting a defensive response.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Good’s vehicle had been blocking a roadway before driving off, at which point shots were fired.
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, disputed claims linking her daughter to anti-ICE protests, saying she was likely frightened and describing her as a kind person. The shooting has reignited debate over immigration enforcement tactics, as Trump’s administration continues an aggressive deportation campaign that Democrats argue unfairly targets migrants and inflames tensions in US cities.

Told to exit the vehicle, she stepped on accelerator, case closed.
