U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated his feud with late-night television, calling on NBC to fire comedian Seth Meyers after the host mocked Trump’s approval ratings and labelled him “the most unpopular president of all time” on his Thursday broadcast.
Meyers cited a poll claiming Trump’s support dropping to 33%, down ten points since March, and argued that even some Republicans were growing frustrated over the president’s recent remarks on H1-B visas and his stalled promise to release the Epstein files.
Trump fired back on Sunday via Truth Social, accusing Meyers of having “an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome” and claiming the comedian was “in an uncontrollable rage” because his show was a “ratings disaster.” He went on to declare that Meyers “has no talent” and should be fired “IMMEDIATELY!”
The president has repeatedly targeted late-night hosts since returning to the White House. He celebrated CBS cancelling Stephen Colbert’s show earlier this year and has pushed for ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel and NBC’s Jimmy Fallon to lose their jobs as well. Kimmel’s show was briefly suspended in September after the FCC chief warned ABC about his comments following the assassination of Charlie Kirk — a move Democrats said amounted to government-driven censorship. The show returned a week later.
