The United States has approved a set of covert measures aimed at ramping up pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, with President Donald Trump authorising the CIA to prepare operations that could include sabotage, cyberattacks, and psychological or information warfare, according to a New York Times report citing US officials.
The strategy coincides with renewed secret negotiations between Washington and Caracas, during which Maduro reportedly floated the idea of stepping down after several years’ delay — an offer the White House rejected.
The Pentagon has already increased its military presence in the Caribbean, deploying warships and carrying out strikes on small vessels it claims are tied to Venezuelan drug networks. US planners have also drafted potential strike lists targeting alleged drug sites and pro-Maduro military units. While Trump has not ordered combat forces into Venezuela, he held two Situation Room meetings last week to assess escalation options.
Even as covert preparations advance, informal talks have resumed, with Maduro said to be offering US energy firms access to Venezuela’s vast oil reserves. Trump acknowledged the renewed contacts, saying discussions “may” be taking place. Caracas has condemned the US military buildup as a threat to its sovereignty and framed the pressure campaign as an attempted coup, while Russia has reiterated support for the Maduro government.

They want the energy resources and precious metals/minerals. The US is a parasite state. Their behaviour reminds me of Hitler, invading other nations, so they could steal their resources and pay their debts, to their US financiers.

Now that Trump realises that he can’t take Ukraine’s resources due to the Russians winning the war there (thankfully!..) he has to look at other nations to attack, invade and exploit such as Greenland, Venezuela, Columbia and Peru…!
