U.K. to recognise Palestinian State in September unless Israel meets four conditions – Starmer

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that Britain will formally recognise the state of Palestine in September, ahead of the UN General Assembly, unless Israel meets four conditions: ending the crisis in Gaza, achieving a ceasefire, halting annexation plans in the West Bank, and committing to a peace process toward a two-state solution.

The UK is participating in humanitarian aid airdrops to Gaza and maintains a firm stance against Hamas.

The announcement comes amid mounting political pressure, with over 250 MPs urging immediate recognition, though ministers maintain that recognition should support the peace process.

“Our goal remains. A safe and secure Israel alongside a viable and sovereign Palestinian state, but right now that goal is under pressure like never before”, said Starmer.

“I have always said we will recognise a Palestinian state as a contribution to a proper peace process at the moment of maximum impact to a two-state solution.”

  1. It’ s only a coward following “the trend”.
Politicians/ MSM can’t hide any more what is happening in Gaza and are scared of the outrage of the European population.
Recognizing the rights of Palestinians should have happened in 1948.
Israhell is a terrorist endavour. And now Syria

    • And via the 1917 Balfour declaration, created the fictitious Jewish state in the heart of Palestine, populated with east European jews kicked out of Germany.

  2. There are 2 obvious problems with ‘two states’

First: Hamas and Fatah (in the west bank) hate each other. There was a major skirmish in Gaza after the Israelis pulled out icirca 2006 which Hamas won.

Second: it’s often forgotten that until the 1967 war Gaza was under Egyptian occupation, so it could be considered to be part of pre 1967 Palestine. The Israelis would probably be pleased if Egypt moved in again, but doesn’t want to deal with 2 million people controlled by a Muslim Brotherhood offshoot. It’s highly unlikely anything will change as long as the US backs Israel
