A video posted online has sparked widespread discussion after a woman shopping at an Aldi supermarket in the U.S. claimed that “almost everything” on the shelves contained bioengineered ingredients and was “fake food”.
In the clip, which has since gone viral, the shopper points to multiple food labels stating “contains bioengineered food ingredients,” citing products ranging from cereal and bread to snacks, frozen meals, and items marketed as natural or healthy.
The footage prompted strong reactions on social media, with users questioning how common such labeling might be across major grocery chains in the United States.
Many commenters expressed concern over what they perceive as a shift away from “real food,” while others argued that bioengineered ingredients—often linked to genetically modified crops—are already widely used in processed products.
Under US law, food manufacturers are required to disclose the presence of bioengineered ingredients, a standard that took effect nationally in 2022.
Labelling is required in Hong Kong and Russia, too but not here in the banana republic of NZ. Eat your Frankenfood in blissful ignorance. Now National Disgrace want to turn us into full fledged island lab rats, with the so called Gene Tech Bill, too. This place really is a failure on so many levels.
Beam me up Scotty
Is this one of the reasons for the gene tech bill? To make it easier for these pedlers of fake food to open shops in the country?
The accelerating way people are now leaving NZ there wont be a country shortly. LOL.
Anything with wheat, corn, soybean, oats ect., would be labeled genetically modified. It’s not like we didn’t know.
