Italy heads to the polls in September in a divisive campaign where immigration is a top issue.
After suffering an injury at work as a labourer, Alika Ogorchukwu took to street selling to support his family. On 29 June he was beaten to death on a footpath in the town of Macerata in an attack media reports said was racially motivated.
The death has shocked Italy, particularly as bystanders chose to film the assault on their phones rather than intervene to stop it. Commentators are blaming anti-immigration Fascist parties for stoking racial tensions.
Alika Ogorchukwu was publicly strangled to death for no reason. The sad event took place on June 29, 2022 in Macerata Italy, where it was filmed by onlookers, none of whom intervened.
Many are now comparing his killing to George Floyd.

This is terrible. I just know I couldn’t have stood by and watch that happen. What is wrong with people? No one deserves this, especially when all he is trying to do is make some kind of a living.
However I feel he is a victim in more than one way. A victim of the failings of his own country and a victim of the effects of mass immigration on other countries. A victim of globalisation.
I get why people are angry, I too have felt frustrated as our own politicians increased the number of people coming to this country, especially those who were using study to gain a foothold to residency and those who have no skills or bought in their elderly parents to be supported by our health system and receive pensions. Why have I felt frustrated? Because I see the opportunities that I had growing up here slipping away for my children. All of this has artificially inflated housing prices and that just has a roll on effect for citizens of a country. I mean look at where New Zealand is now after years of mass immigration. John keys ‘halo’ effect and ‘rockstar economy’ Read: unaffordable housing everywhere, read: poverty.
It’s not the people who immigrates fault, I fully get why they want to make a better life, I don’t blame them at all, but unfortunately the balance of the economy of a country receiving these immigrants is upset immensely. Suddenly the pension/health/welfare/housing pie has to be divided into smaller and smaller pieces. The problem with this is that it has taken many decades of paid taxes by the people already living in the country to build up these services. Mass immigration has created many pressure points. This has what has led up to situations like this. Of course the people profiting from it all don’t care, they just get richer and the immigrants and the average struggling worker are just collateral damage.
So sad that it’s got to this. However I just cannot understand the mentality of people who stand by and do nothing. I could NEVER stand by and watch anyone do anything like that to another human being. Just appalling. May he RIP. ????
They should go home, illegals are not wanted anywhere.
