The New Zealand men’s sevens team kicked off their Olympic campaign in Paris with a flawless performance, securing two impressive victories on the opening day at Stade de France.

They dominated Japan with a 40-12 win, leading 26-7 at halftime, thanks to Akuila Rokolisoa’s early try and standout performance, scoring two tries and 18 points.

Ngarohi McGarvey-Black and Fehi Fineanganofo also added two tries each, with Andrew Knewstubb contributing a conversion.

In their second match, New Zealand faced a tough challenge from South Africa but emerged victorious with a 17-5 win, led by tries from Moses Leo and McGarvey-Black, and a challenging conversion by Rokolisoa. New Zealand now prepares to face second-ranked Ireland in a crucial match tomorrow.
