Watch: Starmer calls for the return of the Gaza ‘sausages’

Gaza sausages news

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer mistakenly referred to “the sausages” instead of “the hostages” during a speech at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, calling for a peaceful resolution to the Gaza conflict.

While discussing the need for a ceasefire and a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, Starmer urged the return of “the sausages” before quickly correcting himself to say “the hostages.”

The slip of the tongue quickly went viral on social media, becoming the second most shared content on X by Tuesday evening.

British legacy media outlets, including The Guardian and Daily Mail seized on the error, labeling it a “gaffe” and a “faux-pas.” The speech came amid ongoing tensions in Gaza, following a year-long conflict that began with a Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent Israeli military response, during which 251 hostages were taken, with 97 still in captivity.
