Police have shut down a social media operation selling restricted weapons from an Auckland suburb, recovering dozens of illegal items and drugs during a raid.
The operation, under investigation for allegedly selling stun devices and OC spray through Facebook, culminated in a search of a Blockhouse Bay property on Wednesday. Auckland City West Area Commander, Inspector Alisse Robertson, confirmed that the search uncovered 29 canisters of OC spray, 27 stun guns, and over 1.6kg of cannabis, all prepared for sale.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested and charged with possession of restricted weapons and possession for supply of cannabis. She appeared in Auckland District Court, with Police opposing her bail.
Inspector Robertson praised the outcome, saying, “This is a great result for the community, with dozens of dangerous weapons removed from circulation.”
Police continue to encourage the public to report any illegal activities, either online or within their neighborhoods, through 105 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
That’s a stunning result.
A woman should carry some form of defense. Pepper spray?
Pepper spray is a no no here in NZ where even words “are violence”.
