Renowned British photojournalist Paul Lowe, 61, was found fatally stabbed on a hiking trail in California, with his 19-year-old son, Emir Lowe, now facing charges for the murder.
Lowe Snr was was discovered on Saturday with a fatal neck wound along Mount Baldy Road near Stoddard Canyon Falls. He was celebrated for his award-winning coverage of global conflicts, including the Bosnian War’s siege of Sarajevo.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the murder charge against Emir Lowe.
Authorities responded to the scene after reports of an assault and later apprehended a suspect, identified as Lowe’s son, following a nearby car crash.
Lowe also served as a visiting professor at King’s College London.
Emir Lowe is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday local time.
