Rise in Philippine infant mortality after 2020 baffles experts

Figures circulating online claim infant mortality in the Philippines rose sharply after two decades of steady decline, with increases reported across several categories following 2020.

Deaths linked to congenital abnormalities increased by 46 per cent, respiratory-related infant deaths rose by 124 per cent, infectious disease deaths climbed 125 per cent, and unexplained sudden infant deaths increased by 106 per cent.

The figures, shared online by former Big Pharma executive @_aussie17, have drawn attention because the increases occurred during the same period COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out for pregnant women.
