Crusaders edge Hurricanes in Super Rugby Pacific 2025 opener

The Crusaders launched their 2025 Super Rugby Pacific campaign with a statement 33-25 victory over the Hurricanes in a high-octane clash in Christchurch.

Despite an early yellow card to captain Scott Barrett and conceding two quick tries to Jacob Devery, the Crusaders clawed back with strong performances from Will Jordan and Cullen Grace to level the score.

Hurricanes debutant Fehi Fineanganofo impressed with powerful carries, while Kini Naholo’s electric finish gave the visitors a halftime lead.

However, Crusaders debutant Kyle Preston stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, including the decisive final try off a ruck snipe, sealing the win and showcasing the team’s dangerous form for the season ahead.
