Emergency services were called to the two vehicle crash just before 6.30pm.
She was 79-year-old Pamela Alexander, from Taupō.
“Pamela was transported to hospital with critical injuries, however has since died.
“Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
“Police continue to make enquiries into the circumstances of the crash.”
