Study flags 86 neuropsychiatric safety signals linked to COVID-19 jabs, using CDC/FDA data

COVID vaccine study news

A newly released study has identified 86 neuropsychiatric safety signals potentially associated with COVID-19 vaccination, using adverse event data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The study, titled Association between COVID-19 Vaccination and Neuropsychiatric Conditions by Thorp et al., was published on the Preprints.org server and analysed reports from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) spanning January 1990 to December 2024.

Researchers compared reports of neuropsychiatric adverse events (AEs) following COVID-19 vaccination to those following influenza and other non-COVID-19 vaccines.

The study found that the CDC/FDA safety threshold was exceeded for numerous serious conditions, including dementia, psychosis, suicidal and homicidal ideation, schizophrenia, cognitive decline, and other psychiatric disorders.

In particular, the study reported proportional reporting ratios (PRRs) significantly above the CDC/FDA’s safety signal threshold (≥2), with PRRs for cognitive impairment events reaching 118 and psychiatric illness events at 115 when compared to influenza vaccines.

The authors concluded that the findings raise significant concerns about the potential long-term neuropsychiatric effects of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines and recommended urgent further investigation.
