A USD $1.6 million luxury yacht named Dolce Vento capsized off northern Turkey’s Zonguldak coast on its maiden voyage, just after being transported from Istanbul.
Video footage showed the 24m vessel overturning within moments of departure, forcing the owner, captain, and two crew members to swim to safety as the yacht sank seven metres below the surface.
All aboard escaped unharmed, with the coast guard and emergency services responding quickly. While the cause remains under investigation, experts suggest stability issues linked to the yacht’s metacentric height may have contributed to the sinking.
