Fonterra has agreed to sell its global consumer businesses, including well-known brands such as Mainland and Anchor, along with processing operations in Australia and Sri Lanka, to French dairy giant Lactalis for $3.845 billion.
The deal, which could rise to $4.22b if Bega licences are included, also involves a long-term supply agreement making Lactalis one of Fonterra’s largest ingredients customers.
Fonterra plans to return around $3.2b, or $2.00 per share, to shareholders following completion of the sale, expected in the first half of 2026 pending regulatory and shareholder approvals.
Both companies hailed the transaction as a strategic opportunity to expand their reach across Oceania, Asia, and the Middle East.

Because the debt is so extreme, NZ has to export as much as possible creating a shortage in NZ. And as we all know when somthing is in short supply the price goes up or people turn to alternatives. I.e. Polyunsaturated margarine poison. Another alternative is go without. NZ citizens are on survival budgets so they go without.
The next step is devaluing our doller to make our exports more competitive. This will create much lower overseas prices for the things we export. It creates demand and a shortage overseas. Things we import are far more expensive.
Here is a tip for you. The only world fake currency i know is bitcoin. No single nation can devalue that. Your choice is to put your faith in bitcoin. Real currency is silver and gold. Did you know what the meaning of doller is? One ounce of silver =. 1 dollar. Here a clue. Take a peek at your paper money. The $ symbol and the word dollar is no longer printed.
If you were thinking $8-10 a block of butter was expensive at present, best stock up and freeze it, because the gouge will have no limits after fonterra no longer has a social licence to be handicapped with after the sale of the brands. French company will not care at all what it costs here.
Corporatism works really well for the people, eh. That must be why we have corpocracy and not direct democracy. The new world corporate agenda.
