A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck the lower North Island and the top of the South Island at 5:08 a.m., centred 25 kilometres west of Wellington at a depth of 31 kilometres.
While there is no tsunami warning, Wellington’s transport service, Metlink, has replaced trains with buses as a precaution. The National Emergency Management Agency has not received any reports of damage and is not currently considering activating a formal response.
Another reminder that earthquakes can occur anywhere in New Zealand at any time. In the event of a large earthquake: Drop, Cover and Hold.
If you are in bed, Stay, Cover and Hold.
If an earthquake is Long or Strong: Get Gone. pic.twitter.com/M2wTjKtdJh— GeoNet (@geonet) October 5, 2024
Earthquake’s, storms, and solar flare’s seem to go hand in hand, I have noticed.
Yes, these “silent weapons of warfare” are on overtime duty at the moment.
