Deputy Police Commissioner resigns amid ‘serious allegations’

Jevon McSkimming news

Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming has resigned from his position just before formal dismissal proceedings could be completed, following new allegations of a “very serious nature.”

He had been on leave for four months due to a separate criminal investigation and was under scrutiny by both the Independent Police Conduct Authority and New Zealand Police.

Police Minister Mark Mitchell confirmed the resignation and stated that McSkimming was no longer considered a “fit and proper” person for the role under the Policing Act.

Despite his resignation, criminal investigations into his conduct will continue. The exact nature of the allegations remains undisclosed.
