The government and cruise industry leaders are set to convene a second joint Cruise Forum in Wellington on May 26, aimed at strengthening the country’s position as a leading global cruise destination.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston said the forum will support collaboration to build a more resilient, competitive and growing cruise sector, which contributed $1.37 billion to the economy in the last financial year.
The initiative follows ongoing efforts between government and industry to address challenges such as market volatility, regulatory coordination, biofouling management and port infrastructure investment.
The forum will focus on enhancing visitor experience and maintaining New Zealand’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global market. Upston will also attend the Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami to promote New Zealand to international cruise operators and reinforce the country’s commitment to the sector.

Take a Cruise to apartheid Aotearoa, pretty please!!
A waste of time. Too expensive. Too far away. Taking fuel usage into consideration it’s just not worth it. There is nothing here to make such expense worthwhile anyway.
Well there obviously is if it brought in $1.37 Billion.
