Iran has rejected a United States proposal aimed at ending the current conflict, according to state broadcaster Press TV, which cited an unnamed senior political-security official, according to British state broadcaster the BBC.
The report said Tehran would only bring the war to an end on its own terms, with the official stating that Iran would decide when hostilities cease and only once its conditions are met.
Iranian authorities have consistently maintained they are seeking a full conclusion to the war rather than a temporary ceasefire. Press TV reported that the official outlined five key conditions, including a complete halt to what Iran described as “aggression and assassinations,” and the creation of firm guarantees to prevent the conflict from resuming.
Additional demands include compensation for war damages, a comprehensive end to fighting across all fronts involving regional resistance groups, and international recognition of Iran’s sovereign authority over the Strait of Hormuz.
Press TV added that Washington has been attempting to engage Tehran through multiple diplomatic channels, but Iranian officials consider the proposals put forward by the US to be excessive and “illogical”.

I was referring more to the depth of this society. Almost every Iranian I have met has had a cultured depth to them you don’t find as frequently in the West. They are typically better educated too. I remember a hugely enjoyable taxi ride across Sydney chatting with my Iranian driver. Turned out he had three degrees but of course, the West being its smug self wasn’t quick to recognize the fact. In any case he said he liked his job. I still felt it was a huge waste of potential but it did highlight how clever these people are.
