Two New Zealander were detained in Phuket, Thailand, following an incident where they allegedly assaulted a local law enforcement officer and attempted to take his weapon.

The incident occurred after they were stopped for exceeding the speed limit and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Reports from local news indicate that Hamish Day, 36, and Oscar Day, 38, were stopped by authorities in Chalong, Phuket’s southern area, on Saturday afternoon.

Lieutenant Somsak Noo-iad, who flagged down the Days, said the duo initially attempted to flee after being signaled to pull over.

Upon catching up with them Lieutenant Noo-iad started to film the encounter, which led to the Days assaulting him and snatching his phone. The altercation escalated when one of them attempted to seize his firearm, causing it to discharge.

Images circulating on the internet show the men applying a chokehold on the officer.

Charges have been laid against them for robbery, impeding police work, physical assault against a police officer, driving without a license, and offering bribes.

According to reports, Ekarat Plaiduang, the chief of Chalong Police Station, stated that the pair tried to bribe the officer, who refused their offer.

  1. Now you watch how this country deals with crime.. I bet there won’t be no cultural reports or home detention here, just a concrete cell and a hole to $h!t it

      • Abusive Bogans,…MMA éxperts’…they wouldn’t like my Colt .45 auto in their faces if they pulled this crap in Amerika…!
Even when they end-up in hospital, they still ‘don’t get it’…!
Wait till they end-up in a community jail in Thailand where the prisoners are all MMA / Thai Kickboxing experts. The Bogans will be beaten, and still…
        They will not ‘Get It’.!
Most types like them go to places like Thailand, the Philippines, and other third world countries in order to max-out on their paedophile fantasies, or perversions that a wife won’t tolerate!
And- EVERYBODY KNOWS IT! (Including the wives who like the lifestyles that they have which are supported by their high-salaried paedophile hubbies, and who turn a blind eye with what Hubby gets up to in those countries…!)
Then, Hubby returns home and gives Wifey an STD or AIDS…then it’s game over with horrific and costly divorce proceedings.
Kinda like a ‘Real Housewives’ episode played-out in the court rooms…BAWHAWHAWHAWHAW!

        • I was shocked at child sex prostitution on Phuket too. However I don’t think ultra short fuse Mattson and his bogan brother Hamish Day are actually paedophiles. They are Latter Day Saints Church Members like their parents Katrina and Laurence Day. Wonder if Laurence Day will be booted off Heartland NZ Party’s board. Mormon wives are pretty loyal. I hope that they only serve 3 years in jail. I reckon that the older one Mattson with the headlock and gun wrestling will get a longer jail sentence. He in for 5 years if he plays his cards right. https://www.facebook.com/mattson.day/ But Hamish might only get 3 years in prison. They are a disgrace to New Zealand. As Trump would say LOCK THEM UP!
