Manhunt for Mitchell Cole continues as bush walkers urged to stay alert

Mitchell Cole may have a mastiff dog with him, say police

Police are urging anyone heading into bush areas around Ruatiti to remain vigilant as the search continues for a man wanted in connection with a double homicide.

Twenty-nine-year-old Mitchell Cole is still being sought following the deaths of two people in Ruatiti on Saturday, December 13.

Detective Inspector Gerard Bouterey said police staff remain on the ground in the area and enquiries are ongoing.

Investigators have established that Cole may be accompanied by a dog described as a black/blue bull mastiff.

Members of the public are being asked to report any sightings of Cole, the dog, or anything unusual discovered in the wider Ruatiti area. Police have stressed that Cole should not be approached under any circumstances, and anyone who sees him should call 111 immediately.

Information that could assist the investigation can also be provided to police via 105, quoting the relevant file number, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
