Police are intensifying their search for a man armed with a long-barrelled firearm following a shooting at the Allenby Park Hotel in Papatoetoe.
The incident occurred around 6:10 PM on Wednesday, involving a dispute where a firearm was discharged but no injuries were reported.
Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers told legacy media the suspect fled on foot, and police are now scrutinising extensive CCTV footage to trace his movements. The community can expect heightened police activity in the area as investigations continue.
The shooting prompted a significant police response, with over 25 vehicles and numerous armed officers securing the scene. Local roads were closed, and residents witnessed a tense situation, though police have reassured the public that everyone inside the hotel was safe. Authorities have lifted all cordons, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing manhunt and ensure community safety.
